Akemi Hokama

Born in Okinawa, Japan, Akemi came to the U.S. in 1989 to study English to benefit her teaching career in Japan. After staying here for a few months, she fell in love with the opportunities this country had to offer, so she decided to stay longer.
She earned an Associate of Art Degree in English (General Studies) from San Antonio College in 1991. In 1993, while deciding her educational/career path in the U.S., she took a nanny job for Mark Mueller to care for his then three year old twin sons, Max and Andy. After three months of being a full time nanny, she was introduced to Mueller Law Offices as a general assistant, organizing offices, answering phones, copying documents, running errands, etc…
From this introduction to an office environment, Akemi decided to attend a business school in the evening in the early 90’s to attain necessary office skills. Eventually, she earned a title of bookkeeper within the firm. In 2003, she took accounting courses at Austin Community College. Having worked for Mueller Law for 15 years, Akemi has demonstrated uncommon dedication and loyalty to her employer and everyone who has worked at Mueller Law as well as other people and the firms that have done business with Mueller Law. Akemi is more than just the bookkeeper for Mueller Law. When people have problems with health insurance, payroll taxes, even finding case documents, she is the person that people go to for help.
When Akemi is not working, she spends time with her two children and husband. She enjoys tennis, hiking, biking, sushi, and traveling.
