Jason Rios

Jason joined Mueller Law in September 2011 as a law clerk. He was born and raised in Brownsville, TX, a short drive away from beautiful South Padre Island, TX. He graduated from The University of Texas at Brownsville in 2010 with a B.A. in Government and is currently a second-year student at The University of Texas School of Law.

Jason most recently worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Felix Recio, United States Magistrate Judge, before joining Mueller Law. There he had the opportunity to draft court opinions and orders on criminal, immigration, and federal civil procedure issues. In 2009, Jason had the opportunity to intern at the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service’s Office of Legislative and Public Affairs in Washington, DC. He worked on legislative updates and assisted in preparing USDA administrators for congressional testimony.

During his undergraduate studies, Jason worked as an online editor for the school newspaper and other university departments. He also tutored and mentored high school students and prepared them for their transition to college. Jason is mindful of the importance of fundamental support for potential first-generation college students, as he is the first in his family to obtain a college degree. As a member of Street Law, Jason has had the opportunity to teach lessons about legal issues relevant to today’s youth to students from Austin-area schools.

In his free time, Jason enjoys working on web design projects, watching football, playing racquetball, and attending live concerts. He also enjoys spending time with his big guard dog, a Miniature Pinscher-Chihuahua mix named Pee Wee.
