Melanie Alley

Melanie was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi. With family roots in Texas, Melanie moved to Texas in 1978 and graduated from Texas State University with a BFA in Studio Art.

In 1988, she moved to New York City for both love and graduate school.  She began her career as a paralegal during this time at a boutique firm handling large construction litigation cases.  Not knowing that she would continue in the legal field for many years, and because she had a strong interest in art, psychology and spirituality, Melanie returned to school while in New York to pursue a graduate degree in Art Therapy along with Special Ed Certification at Pratt Institute.  Shortly after enrolling, Melanie and her husband returned to Texas, where she continued in the masters program remotely, worked in psychiatric facilities in El Paso and San Antonio, and also continued to work as a litigation paralegal.

Melanie returned to Missisissippi in 1996 to help care for her mother and sister who were both ill. She made the decision to continue her career path as a paralegal, and over the next 15 years worked for several large defense firms in Jackson, MS as a litigation paralegal, working primarily in mass tort in asbestos litigation.  She has a wide range of experience working with national trial teams, fortune 500 companies, and multi-district litigation.

Melanie has recently returned to Texas and joined Mueller Law as a paralegal working with their litigation team to aid as medical records coordinator.  New to the plaintiff’s side of the law, she is excited about her work here as it will expand her talents, as well as offer her new opportunities for growth and expansion within the firm.

Aside from the law, Melanie has continued to pursue her art interests through volunteer work and community projects.  A lover of the arts, music, books and film, Melanie is looking forward to the many cultural opportunities Austin has to offer.  She also has an avid interest in travel, metaphysics, gardening and good food.  She loves spending time with friends, family and last but not least – her two cats Stella and W. Hippolito.
