Melanie Rodriguez

Melanie is a third-generation Austinite. She graduated from nationally top ranked Liberal Arts and Science Academy of Austin at LBJ High in 2006. In 2009 she graduated Cum Laude from St. Edward's University in Austin with a BBA in International Business with a Writing and Rhetoric minor. She is the first in her family to obtain a college degree. In 2011 she earned a Masters Degree in Legal Studies from Texas State University. Currently she is studying for the LSAT's and intends to apply to law school.
Melanie interned at Breakthrough Collaborative, an educational nonprofit, and the Texas Governer’s Office. Her initial law related job was with the law firm of Germer Gertz Beaman and Brown. She volunteers at various nonprofits around Austin including the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium. She recently helped organize a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a childhood cancer research facility and hopes to be involved in more community projects in the coming year.
Melanie enjoys being a legal assistant in the firm because it suits her energy and talents. It allows her to practice organization, efficiency, and advocacy. She enjoys keeping in contact with clients and addressing their needs. She is then able to think critically about problems and advocate solutions. Melanie enjoys the firm because it is a vibrant training ground to give her the full experience of working in a dynamic legal environment. She believes the firm gives her the practical knowledge for when she attends law school and beyond, but also allows her to grow personally as well.
Melanie enjoys meeting new people, dancing, laughing, traveling, tanning, music, modern art, motorcycles, playing bass guitar, smoking a good cigar, Feng Shui, spreading positive energy, spiritual transformation, and spending time with her long-haired Chihuahua, Coco.
